2020 Subaru BRZ Turbo Review and Features

Posted on

The 2020 Subaru BRZ Turbo is just as much fun as high-priced sports cars in many cases, at a small fraction of the price, and its reasonably practical. As if Subaru BRZ wasn’t performing good enough as it is, Japanese maker decided to unveil an upgraded version of this sports coupe. It was presented at New York Auto Show. We expect the 2020 BRZ to arrive in October of this year.

2020 Subaru BRZ Turbo Changes

2020 Subaru BRZ Turbo Exterior and Interior Design

Design is different compared to both regular BRZ and GT race models. Along the way, Subaru will make small updates and at some point Subaru usually gives the car a visual “facelift” and updates some mechanicals. Frontal fascia is more angular, especially hexagonal grille and side air intakes. There are couple of air gills behind the front fender from both sides of the 2020 Subaru BRZ, while rear fender gets a large sill. Rear end exposes couple of mid mounted, circular turbo exhausts and a huge angular wing spoiler upon the overhang. These mid-cycle changes often include revised headlights, taillights, fog lights, front bumper cover, speedometer cluster, suspension adjustments, and maybe some minor engine tweaks. Needless to say, plenty of parts, and most of those just mentioned, are made out of carbon fibers.

We can also expect slightly remodeled interior. Sporty, curved dash with circular air vents and compact instrument panel with small display in the middle of it are also to be expected. The feature set is quite generous, two things stand out as different for the BRZ lineup for 2020. The touch-screen audio and infotainment systems in the BRZ used to be among the worst on the market, but they’ve been dramatically upgraded for 2020, with 6.2 inch touch screens incorporating HD Radio, satellite radio, a CD player, Bluetooth audio streaming, iTunes tagging, a USB port, and an aux in port. It’s also compatible with smartphone apps for Aha, Pandora, and Stitcher, among others. And a rear view camera system has been made standard with the system.

2020 Subaru BRZ Turbo Performance and Engine Specs

The new BRZ Turbo car has incorporated an engine that is used inside the BRZ Super GT. It is basically a 2.0 liter turbocharged flat 4 boxer engine and it is able to generate 200 horsepower and 332 lb ft of torque is mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Thanks to terrific chassis balance, sharp steering, and a low center of gravity, the BRZ is a blast to drive despite a lack of horsepower. The engine that has been given to the racer car and also that has been an inclusion to a concept vehicle that Subaru has also produced will find its home in the 2020 Subaru BRZ Turbo.
