2018 BMW 3 Series sedan has been spied winter testing, this time fitted with the M Sport package. BMW 3 Series is one of the successful releases of BMW. The next-generation BMW 3 Series sedan will likely end up the benchmark for the small sedan segment when it comes to important metrics such as driving dynamics and performance. This new prototype offers the best glimpse yet of what the final production model will look like and suggests it will share several features with the new 5 Series.
2018 BMW 3 Series Exterior and Interior Design
The new 2018 BMW 3 Series is expected to be quite similar to the ongoing generation, at least in terms of design. The new car will use BMW’s Cluster Architecture platform that underpins the current 5 Series and 7 Series. The new platform will make heavy use of aluminum, high-strength steel and in an industry’s first, at least for a car like this, carbon fiber. The latest spy shots show changes at the front with a new front bumper. These will smooth the car’s progress as it travels through the air, and should also help distinguish it from the model it replaces. Around the back the latest 3 Series mule has sprouted a chunkier rear bumper, and the car’s production taillights are hidden underneath Zebra print.
We are pretty sure that the same thing will happen with the interior of the car. With multi-material development, the strengthened materials and plastic materials will be of higher advantages from traditional metal. The driving position might get better thanks to the new platform which will likely allow the seats to be mounted lower in the chassis giving you even sportier feeling. Drivers will also notice improvements to the layout of the central display information. It is far from the finished product with a makeshift iDrive screen, the center console from the current model and rudimentary aircon vents. The system could also feature gesture control to allow the driver to operate the car’s features by merely waving their hand in mid air.
2018 BMW 3 Series Release Date and Price
We’d expect the 3 Series to make its debut next autumn, with sales starting in early 2018. At the release time, manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the basic version of 2018 Bmw 3 Series is found start $34,445.
2018 BMW 3 Series Powertrains and Specifications
Under the bonnet, there will be several engine options. This is because every market has different needs. The core powertrains for the United States should remain turbocharged 4 and 6 cylinder inline engines displacing 2.0 and 3.0 liters respectively. Powertrain other markets we’ll see 1.5 liter 3 cylinder units to the usual straight sixes that BMW is so famous for. Of course, there will also be a high performance M3 variant mentioned above. This one gets the Power eDrive system. We don’t have any details yet, but we’d be surprised if they didn’t offer better performance and lower fuel consumption in 2018 BMW 3 Series.
