Reportedly, 2019 Volkswagen Arteon is successor VW CC. The Volkswagen Passat CC enjoyed a respectable level of sales success in the U.S. that peaked in 2011. Despite a facelift and a name change to just CC, its momentum receded rapidly. The Volkswagen CC is getting a bit tired. To say that the CC is in need of an overhaul is a significant understatement. The Volkswagen Arteon is similar to the CC in that it takes coupe-like styling and adapts it to a vehicle with four doors. And 2019 Volkswagen Arteon what you see here is likely its replacement.
2019 Volkswagen Arteon Exterior and Interior
The Arteon is getting ready to replace the CC with MQB platform the bigger. But one major difference between the two is the addition of a hatchback. The look might cut into visibility, but the hatch makes up for it with a big ol’ trunk opening. So note the Arteon’s special design sauce in the way the grille segues into the headlamps, the multiple character lines up the hood which shoot up into the window graphic, and the center line which runs around the car and holds the design together. The LED strips of the headlights do travel inward to meet up with the two horizontal slats of the grille a nice touch. The sporty R-Line version adds more aggressive design details while the Elegance has extra chrome and detailing for a more upscale appearance. At the rear, available rear dynamic turn signal indicators function.
Closely related to the Passat mid-sizer, the Arteon features completely unique, although the dashboard seems to be carried over with a few upgrades. The horizontal theme continues with a narrow band of genuine wood wrapping around the interior. An updated technology platform adds more confidence and safety to the Arteon. As expected, the Arteon will offer a wide range of driver assistance systems, including the latest generation of the company’s adaptive cruise control, Emergency Assist, Lane Assist, Proactive occupant protection and more. A 9.2 inch touchscreen incorporates elementary gesture recognition, where an approaching hand expands the bottom row of control icons to better describe each button’s function.
2019 Volkswagen Arteon Release Date and Price
The Arteon is under production now in Germany, it likely will not arrive in the market until 2018 with an estimated $37,000 base price creep closer to the $40,000 area.
2019 Volkswagen Arteon Powertrain and Specs
The Arteon will launch as a new model with six different engine options. There are three diesel and three gasoline engines at launch, with a turbo V6 gas engine currently under development. A turbocharged and intercooled 2.0 liter inline four packing 270 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Top speed is governed to 155 mph and 0-62 mph is accomplished in 5.6 seconds. This most popular engine paired with an Aisin eight speed automatic transaxle sending output to the front wheels. All-wheel drive will likely be optional, so 2019 Volkswagen Arteon could reasonably work as a more performance oriented variant.
