2018 Chevy Equinox is namesake compact crossover newly launched. The next generation Chevrolet Equinox replaces one of the oldest models in the brand’s lineup, bringing tidier dimensions, the latest infotainment and safety technology. Equinox was the first crossover for Chevrolet when introduced in 2005. Since its distant 2010 redesign, the Equinox competed in the small-SUV segment by being a bit larger than its price-point rivals. Equinox compact SUV adds a brace of turbocharged engines to boost efficiency for the 2018 model year.
2018 Chevrolet Equinox Exterior and Interior Design
The new 2018 Chevrolet Equinox was designed with your needs and wants in mind. Chevy played the safe card here. Granted, this vehicle is bound to sell all over the world, but there seems to be less and less American flair coming out of the Chevy design studio as the years go on. But it does not rule out the possibility chevy has a bad design, Equinox still charming. That upper grille makes direct contact with the radiator grille that now features a wider frame and large rectangular mesh. There is an interesting chromed line at the side windows and D pillar is merged with rear windshield, although that just carried on from the previous generation. The headlights are now thinner and sleeker, coming to a sharp point at the radiator grille and a sharp point at the fender. Yet, perhaps it’s better than some gimmicky taillight design and calling it “Corvette inspired”.
New interior looks modern and complex, far better than the unimaginative one of the predecessor. A smoother approach on the dual cowl dashboard leaves softer lines and better materials. Updated versions of Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system with a seven or eight inch touchscreen will be available and come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox will also be available with a 4G LTE connectivity via GM’s OnStar telematics services. On the other hand, the excellent rear legroom helps mitigate the cargo disadvantage if you haul people more frequently than things.
2018 Chevrolet Equinox Release Date and Price
The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox will go on sale before the end of March. We find out what consumers are really paying for this vehicle. In the meantime, it will continue to play on its price tag card of $24,000 which is cheaper than many rivals.
2018 Chevrolet Equinox Powertrains and Performance
For 2018, there are a few positive changes here. Gasoline fueled 1.5 and 2.0 liter turbos are available, it makes just 170 horsepower and 252 horsepower. It paired with a 6 speed and 9 speed automatic and standard front wheel drive. The biggest surprise is perhaps Chevrolet’s intent to launch the 2018 Equinox with a 1.6 liter diesel engine shared with the new Chevrolet Cruze. Although the turbodiesel makes only 136 hp, its 236 lb-ft of twist is more impressive, and should make the diesel Equinox a smooth, long legged cruiser. It is definitely a step forward for 2018 Chevrolet Equinox.
